Privacy Policy

1. Overview
Withmi ("we", "us") is an AI companion app for planning and focus. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your information when you use the Withmi iOS app. By using Withmi, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information we collect

3. Data kept only on your device
By default, the following stays on your device and is never uploaded to our servers:
- Voice recordings: Audio from voice input is a temporary file, deleted from your device once transcribed or sent. The raw audio is never uploaded or stored.
- Speech-to-text: Performed using Apple's on-device speech recognition; the raw audio is not sent to our servers.
- Custom-mode API key: Stored in the iOS Keychain and kept only on your device. In custom mode, requests are sent directly from your device to the AI service you specify, without passing through Withmi servers.
- When cloud sync is not enabled, all content you create in the app is stored only in the local on-device database (SwiftData).
4. Data uploaded to Withmi servers
When you sign in and use cloud sync, the following is uploaded over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on Withmi servers (api.withmiapp.com) for cross-device sync and backup:
- Chat conversations and message content
- Companion settings, world-building, memories and daily summaries
- Plans, tasks, habits, habit logs and milestones
- Focus records, guidance records and time sessions
- Account profile, theme settings, AI configuration (excluding the custom API key held in the local Keychain)
- Avatars and chat images (stored after compression)
- APNs push token, device time zone and foreground active-conversation status (for push)
5. AI features and data flow
Withmi's AI is used to generate chat replies, plan drafts, guidance steps, focus companionship text and memory summaries. There are two modes:
Managed mode (default)
Your chat content and plan-related context are sent to Withmi servers (api.withmiapp.com), which forward them to an upstream AI model provider to generate a response. We use this content only to produce the AI output you request, not to train our own models.
Custom mode (advanced)
You can enter your own AI service URL, model and API key. In this mode, requests are sent directly from your device to the third-party service you specify and do not pass through Withmi servers. How that third party handles your data is governed by its own privacy policy.
6. How we use data
- To provide the app's core features (chat, planning, today's tasks, habits, guidance, focus).
- To sync and back up your data across your devices.
- To send companion reminders and daily greetings based on your time zone and settings.
- To identify and maintain your account.
7. Sharing and third parties
We do not sell your personal information. Third parties are involved only in these cases:
- Apple: For Sign in with Apple authentication and for delivering notifications via Apple Push Notification service (APNs).
- Upstream AI model providers: In managed mode, content is forwarded through our servers to the upstream model provider to generate AI replies.
- An AI service you choose: Only when you enable custom AI mode, connected directly from your device.
- When required by law or necessary to protect users and public safety.
8. Retention and deletion
You can manage and delete your data at any time in the app:
- Clear local data: Remove on-device content under "Me > Data Management".
- Clear cloud data: Request deletion of data synced to our servers from within the app.
- Delete account: Delete your account under "Me > Data Management". This removes your cloud data, image assets, push token and on-device data, and cannot be undone. See the Account Deletion page.
After account deletion, we remove the synced data associated with your account. A small amount of system logs generated for operations and security may be retained for a reasonable period and are not used to identify you.
9. Security
All communication with our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. The custom-mode API key is stored securely in the iOS Keychain. Please keep your device and Apple account secure.
10. Children's privacy
Withmi is not designed for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Tracking and ads
Withmi does not track users across apps or websites, does not display ads, and does not integrate any third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
